Tax Refund in Korea

Recently my family and I had our vacay and went to Korea. I love everything about Korea! Their culture, food, people, and k-drama! :D Whenever  you visit Korea, you have to visit their famous shopping street in Myeongdong. I don't think you can ever visit most of the shops in one day so we had to visit 2 days in a row which made me do a lot of shopping! I just couldn't resist their freebies and promotion on makeup and skin care. <3

After you've done all the shopping, keep your receipts and tax refund form and bring it to the airport. For those who are lazy readers I will try to break it down as easy as I can. :)

STEP1:
Keep the receipts together with their respective tax refund forms.

STEP 2:
Pack everything you bought in your carry on luggage JUST IN CASE customs at the airport checks it for tax refund, but make sure those liquids equal or more than 100ml are packed on your check in luggage because they aren't allowed on your carry on bags. In my case they didn't check and open any of my bags.

STEP 3:
Fill out the forms on your tax refund.
  • Name
  • Credit Card details
  • Address
  • Contact #
  • Passport #
  • Date
  • Signature
STEP 4:
At the airport, after checking in, go straight to the tax refund kiosk just beside the customs declaration. When we got there there were people on each kiosk ready to assist you. Just present all of your tax refund receipts and they will scan it for you.

STEP 5:
Proceed to Gate 28. There are arrows that says "Tax Refund" on the gate so you will not get lost. If I remember it right I think the tax refund counter is at the 3rd floor.

STEP 6:
Go to the booth and present all your scanned receipts and your passport. You can choose to get your cash back in USD or KRW.

All in all the process was easy and hassle-free. =) If you have any questions regarding the tax refund feel free to leave me a comment and I'll reply as soon as I can. I hope you find this post helpful. :)

Love,
Katrina
